Jonathan is a vocal coach, with 30 years of experience encompassing London West End Musicals, Classical and Operatic singers. Using the Estill Model, and by setting realistic goals; students will see an improvement in just one vocal coaching session. Jonathan is a vocal consultant to many West End theatre production companies, as well as individual performers. He is considered to be an elite international voice professional. As a répétiteur and vocal coach, Jonathan is specialising in contemporary voice training. During a vocal coaching lesson, Jonathan will work with the body airflow, the intrinsic voice muscles and vocal fold adduction. Most importantly, you will learn how to shape the vocal tract and the articulators. Consequently, this will ensure that you have the correct vocal posture when performing. What Style Do You Teach?
I believe that each student has their own unique style and personality as a singer. I prefer to identify what is needed for each individual and teach accordingly. My teaching method applies many of the leading frameworks, and if required I can teach the Estill Model.
How Does Your Vocal Coaching Work?
Your first lesson, will be a discussion about your goals and aims, then I will conduct an assessment of your voice. We will tailor your lesson to what we hear during the assessment and I will explain more about technique as the lesson progresses.
In subsequent lessons, we will continue building upon the previous lessons and iron out any problems you may be currently experiencing. We will also listen to the songs that you have been working on, and I will guide you on how to fix anything you are struggling with.
Your lessons will be recorded so you can listen to them afterwards and continue to practice. You can do this with the knowledge that you are singing the same as you did in your lesson.
It is usually a good idea to have some water on hand for your lesson, as well as any songs you are working on, or want to work on.
